While it takes a bit of effort to extend the basin to ‘normal’ size, it’s a worthwhile compromise for the space saving feature of being collapsible. The silicone side walls are quite sturdy and appear to be quite durable. Once expanded, there’s a plastic beam that is hinged to the bottom and lifts to support the top and maintain the structural integrity. It’s a credible design.Another example of good design, the control pod can be removed from it’s recessed placement in the foot basin. It can then be used as a remote control, allowing changes while comfortably seated.The foot basin features bumpy rollers on the bottom, you can roll your feet on them to give an acupressure massage for the soles. The rollers are removable, in case you don’t find them comfortable. They are fairly well attached, so it might take some time and effort to remove them.It also features bubbles and heat for a luxurious spa experience. The heating has three levels with Low (106ºF), Medium (109ºF) and High (113ºF). Thankfully, it does heat up quickly. You could put warm (95ºF) water into the basin to accelerate the water heating process. However, they warn to use warm, not hot water. They state that heated water, 113ºF, will interfere with the thermostat, andThe product title mentions ‘Jets’ but that is not a feature of the foot spa basin. (I don’t count the bubbling feature as being water jets, like in a jacuzzi.)The foot spa does deliver a pleasant, comforting spa experience. I’d recommend adding salts and perhaps some essential oils for aromatherapy. The significant other tested the foot spa using a piece of a bath bomb, which she highly recommends.The foot spa does match the pictures and statements in the product details (except for the ‘jets’). My husband has been having issues with callouses and bunions, this spa is total relaxation for him. The spa comes with heat and massage and is adjustable for all your needs. The remote control is a great asset, too, as he is getting on in years and bending over to adjust might just be too difficult for him.
