I wrote earlier about a problem that I was having with this product and I need to revise my comment--I thought the table arrived broken, but that was not the case--what does seem to be true is that it is normal for the footrest to require a lot of force to put back down after it has been raised. So my table was not defective, but the movement required to put the footrest back down is not quite intuitive, and it takes an amount of force that you would otherwise think excessive or potentially destructive. It really is a nice table.
